Cross-Selling
Cross-selling is recommending a different product that works well with the one the customer already chose, in order to raise the value of a single order.
How is it different from upselling?
Upselling offers a higher tier of the same product; cross-selling adds a different kind of product alongside it. Suggesting a better camera body is upselling. Suggesting a memory card is cross-selling.
How do you do it in live?
Have the host show the actual order of use, and no explanation is needed. Cleanser, then toner, then cream — shown in sequence, the reason to buy them together stays on screen. Issuing a bundle coupon during the broadcast closes the decision on the spot.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Don't too many recommendations get in the way?
They do. Adding choices right before a decision stops the purchase. One at a time, and only where the reason is obvious, performs better.
Q. Which products should you pair?
Combinations with real co-purchase history are the safest. Check that stock and delivery timing line up as well.
Q. How is bundling different from cross-selling?
A bundle uses price to make two items sell together; cross-selling uses reason. Find the pairs that work without a discount first — adding a discount to those later produces a much bigger lift.
