How AI CRM Lifts Live Sales: V-CRM Interview

Live Commerce Sales, Start to Finish: Boost Conversions with AI CRM (V-CRM interview cover)

💡 Key points at a glance

  • Live sales keep going after the stream ends. CRM’s job is to bring back the people who got the alert but never came, who left mid-stream, or who hesitated at the cart.

  • Split messages by response: a perk for viewers, a ‘we’re live now’ alert for people who haven’t joined, and a coupon for carts left unpaid for 24 hours.

  • Let AI handle copywriting, AlimTalk template drafts and scenario design, and a small team can run the same flow for every stream.

  • The starting point is the list of customers waiting for your stream, gathered with Shoplive’s live pre-alerts (Notify Me).

Live sales don’t end with the people who check out during the stream. To really convert a live audience, you also have to win back the ones who got the reminder but never showed up, the ones who drifted off mid-stream, and the ones who put something in the cart and hesitated. Each of them left for a different reason. Most still get the same single message, or nothing at all.

The reason is simple. Splitting audiences, writing copy and getting templates approved for every single stream is too much manual work. That’s why brands that go live often are turning to AI to automate their CRM operations.

Video Commerce Summit 2026: visitors crowd the V-CRM booth under a banner reading “Live commerce CRM, now with AI” to watch the live demo

At Video Commerce Summit 2026 on October 2, one booth showed exactly how this works: V-CRM, an AI CRM messaging platform and Shoplive partner. Visitors received a five-step KakaoTalk message sequence on their own phones in real time, live start alert → drop-off reminder → order → shipping → review request, and every button tap showed up in the click count instantly.

It’s welcome news for Shoplive customers too. Many of them go live every week, some every day, and the more streams they run, the more revenue hinges on who comes back for the next one. That makes CRM just as important as the stream itself.

We asked Na Jun-young, CEO of V-CRM, how to build CRM that lifts live conversions, and how much lighter AI can make the work.

In the studio, the host and V-CRM CEO Na Jun-young sit facing each other with question sheets during the interview

Q. Why does CRM matter so much for live sales?

  1. “A message can’t be a one-and-done. What you send next has to depend on whether the customer tapped the button or made a purchase. That’s what turns a message into a sale. In Korea, the channel for that is KakaoTalk, the app people open every day.”

“We call it Full Funnel CRM: connecting every step a customer goes through, from the stream alert to purchase, shipping and the review request, into one flow. And AI helps design that flow.”

Q. How do you message viewers and non-viewers differently?

  1. “External live shopping platforms don’t share their viewer lists. So we put a tracking link on the button inside the message. Customers who tap it and customers who don’t are split automatically, and each group gets its own next message. Viewers get a perk; people who haven’t joined yet get a ‘we’re live now’ alert.”

“That’s exactly what we showed at the Summit. When a visitor tapped the button on their phone, the click showed up in real time.”

Q. What message flow lifts conversions on a stream day?

  1. “Take a single stream day and it plays out like this. Nobody has to hand-pick the audience. Set it up once and the same flow runs automatically for every stream.”

Stage

Automated message

Conversion goal

30 min before

Live start reminder to customers who signed up for alerts

Secure the first wave of viewers

Stream starts

With Shoplive viewing data connected, a ‘we’re live now’ nudge only to customers who haven’t entered the stream

Bring back viewers who missed the start

Mid-stream drop-off

With Shoplive viewing data connected, a link to the highlights they missed

Win back interested viewers

Unpaid cart

A coupon only to customers who haven’t paid within 24 hours

Close hesitant purchases

After purchase

Shipping update → review request once the item arrives

Reviews and a return visit next stream

Split the roles between live and CRM, and conversions keep flowing

The live solution handles the stream and the viewing experience; CRM handles the messages before and after. When the two connect, there’s no gap from the moment a customer starts waiting for a stream to the moment they leave a review.

Start with your live pre-alert list

If you’re starting CRM automation, turn on Shoplive’s live pre-alerts (Notify Me) first. Add the button to upcoming streams and you build a list of customers who are waiting for the stream. That list is where automated messaging begins: the 30-minute reminder and the ‘we’re live now’ nudge both start here.

Ohouse’s live streams (Ohouse is one of Korea’s largest home and interior platforms) held steady at an average of about 90,000 viewers per stream, helped by customers gathered through Notify Me together with CRM. Gather customers with pre-alerts, bring them back with CRM messages, and returning viewers grow with every stream without fresh ad spend each time.

Q. How do you bring cart abandoners back to buy?

  1. “That got the best reaction at the Summit. Send us events from your own store, like ‘add to cart’, and a coupon goes out automatically, for example only to customers who haven’t paid within 24 hours. Just the people who are hesitating, and within a day.”

“One caveat: cart reminders count as advertising, so in Korea they have to go out as Kakao Brand Messages, not AlimTalk notifications. You also have to follow the rules on ad labeling, the 080 opt-out line and separate consent for late-night sends (9 p.m. to 8 a.m.). V-CRM automatically removes 080 opt-out numbers from the send list. Kakao Brand Message sending is being prepared for launch.”

Q. How much lighter does AI make CRM operations?

  1. “CRM is hard less because of ideas and more because of all the manual work. So we handed that work to AI. AI writes several versions of your campaign copy, and drafts AlimTalk templates to Kakao’s review guidelines, so you lose fewer days to rejected templates. Write down your goal and AI designs the whole automation scenario in one go.”

“Getting started is quick, too. Once you finish Kakao Business verification, your sender profile is registered right away, and template review usually takes one to two business days. With shared templates you skip review and can send your first message the same day. Delivery results and button clicks show up in real time.”

Compared with doing CRM by hand, the difference is clear.

Q. How do you stay in touch with first-time live viewers?

  1. “Kakao doesn’t share channel follower lists with outside services, so you can’t message anyone without a phone number. That’s why we use a sign-up screen that collects contact details and messaging consent while customers follow the channel.”

“Because follow, contact details and consent all happen at once, even someone you met for the first time on a live stream can safely receive your next message.”

Q. How is personal data handled when you use behavioral data?

  1. “The data belongs to the brand, which is the data controller. V-CRM is the processor that handles message delivery. The terms of that arrangement are published in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.”

“Brands choose how their data is processed: ‘send only’, where data is used just to deliver messages, or ‘hyper-personalization’, where behavioral data is stored and used for tailored messages. Hyper-personalization can only be switched on by brands that accept the supplementary terms online in the console, and that consent record is kept so it can’t be edited or deleted.”

“Recipient data is stored and processed on servers in Seoul, Korea. When messages go to customers in Japan via LINE, the data is transferred to LINE’s operator, LY Corporation in Japan.”

Key takeaways: running CRM that lifts live conversions

  • Live sales keep going after the stream ends. CRM’s job is to bring back the people who got the alert but never came, who left mid-stream, or who hesitated at the cart.

  • Don’t send everyone the same message. Split the next message by how each customer responded. A tracked button link tells viewers and non-viewers apart.

  • Design the flow once. From the 30-minute reminder to the review request, the live commerce flow then runs automatically for every stream.

  • Hand the busywork to AI. Copywriting, AlimTalk template drafts and scenario design: a small team can run the same quality of CRM for every stream.

  • Start with your pre-alert list. The customers who signed up through live pre-alerts (Notify Me) are your starting point.

FAQ

Which messages should you automate around a live stream to lift conversions?

Set up five steps once and the same flow runs for every stream: a start reminder 30 minutes before; with Shoplive viewing data connected, a ‘we’re live now’ nudge only to customers who haven’t entered and highlights for viewers who dropped off mid-stream; a coupon for cart items left unpaid for 24 hours; and shipping updates plus a review request after purchase.

If the live platform doesn’t share viewer lists, how do you tell viewers from non-viewers?

Put a tracking link on the message button. Customers who tap it and customers who don’t are split automatically, so viewers can get a perk while people who haven’t joined get a ‘we’re live now’ alert.

What CRM work can AI take over?

AI writes several versions of campaign copy, drafts AlimTalk templates to Kakao’s review guidelines and, given a goal, designs the whole automation scenario. Audiences are also split automatically by customer response, so no one has to rebuild the list for every stream.

What rules apply when sending coupons to cart abandoners in Korea?

Cart reminders count as advertising, so they must go out as Kakao Brand Messages rather than AlimTalk notifications, with ad labeling, an 080 opt-out line and separate consent for late-night sends (9 p.m. to 8 a.m.). V-CRM’s Kakao Brand Message sending is being prepared for launch.

Can you tell Naver Smart Store buyers from non-buyers?

Naver’s Commerce API doesn’t provide cart data. For now you can add your own coupon link to the live announcement to see who bought. V-CRM is reviewing a Smart Store order integration.

What is V-CRM, the service featured in this interview?

V-CRM is an AI CRM messaging platform that sends KakaoTalk AlimTalk messages and automatically sends the next message based on how each customer responded. It also supports LINE for customers in Japan.
